Join Caroline Spelman MP at the Chamberlain Forum looking into how to regenerate local self-help and mutuality in the context of the global economic down-turn, and how the relationship between citizen and local State must change. This lecture marks the 150th anniversary of the publication of Samuel Smiles’ publication ‘Self-Help’ – the ‘Bible of Liberalism’; the original self-help book preaching personal empowerment and community responsibility.
